Naps & Books

"I'm so tired mom, but I'm NOT taking a nap." Collin says this pretty much on a daily basis.

I tell him it's time for quite time and then he says "I'm NOT going to my room." But he goes. Halfway up the stairs he asks me to read him stories and then he ends up falling asleep during the 2nd story.

BOOKS

I tell you the boy loves books. He loves to be read to and he loves to look at books by himself and "read" them. All the time I will walk by his room and I hear him "reading" a book. He knows the main jest of the books and has some of them memorized.

Last week I took him to the library. As we are walking in he tells me "mom, be quite as a mouse at the library." We go to the kids section and he picks out more books than I can carry. Then he wants to sit in the little kid chairs and read the books at the library. It was so cute.

The next day he goes to school and he tells all of his teachers "I went to the library and got books about dinosaurs." We are so glad that he loves books and hope that he will keep it up as he gets older.

I want to take your cheese.....

I was doing some eBay listings and I had the camera out. Collin said that he wanted to take "your cheese." Here are some pictures he took of Tony & I. Collin wanted his picture taken with the cat, but once he held Truman - he just wanted to roll around on the floor with him. The cat wasn't too happy.

Beau's Birthday Party

Today was Collin's best friend's birthday party. His name is Beau and they are in the same class at school. Collin was SO excited to go to the party. But all morning prior to the party - he kept telling that it wasn't Beau's birthday - it was COLLIN'S birthday. He just couldn't understand the concept of it being another person's special day. The party was at this place that caters to kids and has all sorts of indoor play equipment, they sing songs, etc. So we get to the party and sure enough the two of them are hanging out the entire time. Well it comes time for the cupcakes. Beau gets a cupcake with a candle in it & we all sing. Collin gets upset because HE wants a candle for HIS birthday. THEN he keeps asking Tony & I "Where are all of my presents?" It was SO funny. Leaving the party was complete drama because he of course wanted to stay and play. He kept telling me "I am NOT going home Mom." So then I asked him "Collin where are you going to sleep if you aren't going home?" Of course he didn't have an answer and we were able to leave without him making a scene.

January 19, 2005

Today Collin was in a VERY bad mood. Among other things, he didn't want me to bring any diapers in the car because he wanted to "use the pottty like big boy." I'm sitting there thinking, "Um, you've only peed on the potty ONCE - we aren't yet ready for you to go commando." So I ignore him and take the diapers/wipes to the car. He flips out. We get in the car, he flips out. We go to the gym and he finally calms down. He proceeds to then tell me that "mommy I want to give you a hug, kiss and honk your nose." This comes after I tell him that he made me sad by pitching a fit. I think that's his way of apologizing. We get to the gym & he flips out that he has to go to the 3 year old room. I ignore him & we go anyway. I then tell the Nursery lady in charge that he's in a mood today, just in case he pitches a fit when I leave. I mean he shouldn't pitch a fit, these women have only known him & vice versa since he was 8 months old! So then I workout and I go pick him up. The woman tells me that he had a scowl on his face & he told her "leave me alone, I'm in a mood." I just shook my head laughing when they told me!

Then I take him to school. While we were waiting to drop him off, I forgot to tell him the school rules (no hitting, no fighting, quite as a mouse on the playgroud, share & listen). As I picked him up I thought OH CRAP, we didn't go thru the rules. Sure enough, he got a note sent home that he got time out for telling Ms. Beth "NO."

We get home and I go thru the whole "you need to listen to your teachers, etc." I tell him that it makes mommy sad to hear that you didn't listen to Ms. Beth. Later on he tells me "Mommy you aren't mad anymore, you're happy! I want to give you a hug, kiss and honk your nose." I guess that's not so bad of an apology.
